Occupational therapy is often described as the "doing" therapy. In Occupational Therapy, your OT works with you to increase your quality of life and your ability to engage in the things you need to do, have to do, or want to do.
OTs look at multiple things that impact your ability to complete the things you need to do including but not limited to:
In OT, the therapy is in doing. We can adapt your activities by introducing tools to help. We can work on your pacing of things. We can brainstorm different ways to do the same activitiy. We can disguise therapy as a fun activity to work on what you need to do. The sky is the limit.
At Rhoads to Independence, we do not focus on independence above all else. As a disabled occupational therapist, Janine knows first hand how much more quality of life you can have when you are working with and supported by your community. You should not have to prioritize fitting into an able-bodied mold to be viewed as "complete", and we won't force you into it.
